San Francisco, California

The Fairmont San Francisco

The Bay Area is home to a rich family philanthropy ecosystem, comprised of both new and established donors and supported by an infrastructure of committed intermediaries and philanthropy-serving organizations. San Francisco is a hub of philanthropic innovation--donors are taking risks, employing new practices, and welcoming a new generation of givers. We're delighted to come together in this vibrant city.

Forum programming will be taking place primarily at the Fairmont San Francisco. In addition, there will be opporunities for off-site visits to learn more about the work of local nonprofits.

COVID-19 & Safety

The health and safety of the Forum’s attendees is a critical consideration for NCFP. We continue to monitor the situation closely and will update this policy in accordance with the latest guidelines from the CDC, and the City and County of San Francisco. We will be following all protocols required by San Francisco County and the Fairmont. We recommend that attendees get tested for COVID-19 prior to traveling and we require that all Forum attendees, speakers, and sponsors provide proof of vaccination. Accessibility

The Forum will occur on multiple levels of the Fairmont, which are accessible via elevator. The hotel is somewhat spread out and significant walking between sessions (up to 10 minutes) may be required. The hotel also sits atop a steep hill (which has the benefit of beautiful views!). We recommend comfortable walking shoes during the event and when walking to and from the hotel.

All session speakers will use microphones and plenary sessions speakers will appear on projection screens for easier viewing within the room.

Session resources and handouts as well as the event agenda will be available on the Forum app as they become available.

Should you have specific accommodation needs, please indicate them in your registration, or contact NCFP at ncfp@ncfp.org.

  • "The 2019 National Forum was a rich opportunity for family funders to learn, share, connect, and perhaps most importantly, question their own assumptions about giving and the potential of of philanthropy now and in the future."

  • "This was the most consistently substantive and interesting philanthropic conference I've attended, out of dozens in the past 20 years. Staff, sessions, attendees, attention to detail all were outstanding."
  • "We LOVE the Forum!!! Just keep doing what you always do--it is by far the best conference we attend."
  • "NCFP not only provided an opportunity to gain critical insight to effective grantmaking strategies but also a safe space for people to learn and share their experiences in a very warm and supportive 'family' environment!"
